Carhartt WIP is a tale about a brand in rapid development moving from the railroads to the fashion scene. A reflection of functional workwear meeting the streetwear culture and uniting in a harmonious symphony. Even though the brand has been around for over 125 years, it is still one of the absolute leaders within fashion in the streetwear culture. The brand does not only address to a narrow niche audience but has found a charm in embracing the hard-working people, driven by the same values that the company itself has worked from since the beginning, reliability, honesty, and trust. Carhartt WIP was founded in Michigan by Hamilton Carhartt in 1889. A year of steel, steam, and locomotives. Exactly this industry was the starting point for the brand, which approached the railway workers, asking about their needs and creating products for them. Later, the brand became popular with consumers outside the craft industry when the hip-hop culture became interested in the 1980s and 1990s. In 1994, they founded the line WIP, that translates to Work in progress, in order to distribute their products to Europe and Asia and create more streetwear-based designs. The American heritage, however, has not been forgotten, and the brand continuously succeeds in conveying the organic encounter between streetwear and workwear. The meeting is expressed in the coveted designs like the canvas-classic Detroit, Bib overalls, Pierce pants and the Arling jacket. With core principles as honesty and fairness, they have ensured that they are as relevant today as they were back in 1889. Through robust constructions, and by setting exceptional standards of quality, durability, and comfort, they have achieved a legendary status in their own field. Driven and owned by the same bloodline throughout the brand's history, they ensure that their actions aim higher than words, and are being carried by the hardest working people of all. Hence their slogan: Carhartt. Outworking them all since 1889. And our opinion is, that is fits very well.
