Music, art and architecture lies at the core of Axel Arigato's inspiration. The Swedish sneaker centered brand gives traditional silhouettes, like the Chelsea boot and the low top leather sneaker, new life in a modern context. The brand has also started working with more sporty design in their new Marathon R-Trail sneakers. These have the look and feel of an old school training shoe but the use of leather detailing and a simple color pallet gives it a contemporary and clean style.
They have a broad selection of both men's and women's shoes within these categories, all with a special Axel Arigato touch. Although based in Sweden, they have spread their wings, since starting in 2014, and left the nest to become a brand of global notoriety. Some of this can be accredited to their big commitment to the fashion community. They frequently host events and concerts in Stockholm, London and Copenhagen to gather their audience and allow them to experience the brand first hand. Last year (before the pandemic put an end to social gatherings...) they held a free one-day-festival in Copenhagen, named "The Post-Human Festival" where international artists like Earthgang, GIGGS and Aminé performed at The Plant. The festival was centered around themes like science fiction, futurology, contemporary art, and philosophy. This created a unique experience that embraced technology and creative cultures. These themes are also integrated in their retail spaces, which attempt to combine digital and physical spaces in a futuristic setting. They recently opened a new flagship in Copenhagen which features futuristic art and sculptures by Kiri-Una Brito Meumann. The space is made up of two stories in concrete which gives it an almost brutalist vibe. But combined with the colorful and rounded shapes of Meumann's sculptures, where the products are shown, it's brought to life, while staying minimal. If you ever find yourself in Copenhagen it's worth a visit.
