Our Legacy lets stitching, cut and cloth speak where other labels use logos. Familiar wardrobe staples get an off-kilter turn through custom-developed fabrics, so a piece looks known at first glance and odd at the second. Jockum Hallin and Cristopher Nying founded the Swedish label in Stockholm in 2005. It is best known for fabric-led pieces: wide jeans, relaxed checked shirts and shaggy knitwear.

From T-shirts to Stockholm

Hallin and Nying started Our Legacy as a graphic T-shirt project. For a couple of years they drove around Scandinavia with a duffel bag full of them, selling directly to shops. Richardos Klarén joined a few years later as third partner and shaped the business and retail side. The project grew into a full ready-to-wear line, with womenswear added in 2018 and own stores in Stockholm, London and Berlin. Fashion press has called it one of Europe's most influential niche labels.

Imperfect perfection and no logos

The label describes its ideal as "imperfect perfection". Character comes from the quality of the cloth, the precision of the cut and the finish of a detail, never from anything showy. Silhouettes are rooted in traditional shapes, colours stay muted, and there are no visible logos or runway shows.

The references run between America and Europe, with a touch of 90s nostalgia and subculture. It is not minimalism in the strict sense, since the label plays freely with texture, print and unexpected fabric treatments. Fans know a piece by the placement of a stitch or the weight of the denim.

Wide jeans, checks and shaggy knit

While skinny jeans dominated, Our Legacy launched a wide-leg model that went on to become a bestseller. The house is also known for denim with trompe l'oeil prints and distinctive washes, such as the Slate Cut and Wata Cut Pants. Relaxed checked shirts like the Above Shirt and Every Shirt are signatures, as is the dense, fuzzy knitwear typified by the Evening Polo in alpaca. In leather, the Camion Boots are the best-known piece.

Cloth, leather and patina

Our Legacy works with natural and custom-developed fabrics, often washed, dyed and treated. Handwork and careful detail take priority over industrial mass production. Behind this is a conviction that wear and patina are qualities, and that materials improve with use.

Leather shows it most clearly: the Camion Boots, the Orbit Jacket in bullhide and the Mini Bomber all gain character over the years. Work Shop, launched in 2016, turns leftover fabric and deadstock into limited drops outside the season rhythm.

Work Shop and the label's standing

Work Shop doubles as the label's collaboration space, with projects alongside Stüssy, Converse, Artek, Denim Tears and Emporio Armani, the label's first luxury partner. In late 2024, LVMH Luxury Ventures acquired a minority stake in the company. Stoy carries Our Legacy for men and Our Legacy for women.

Frequently asked questions about Our Legacy

Is Our Legacy a Swedish brand?

Yes. Jockum Hallin and Cristopher Nying founded it in Stockholm in 2005, and Richardos Klarén joined as a third partner a few years later. The Swedish capital is still its home base.

What is Our Legacy known for?

Familiar staples reworked through custom-developed fabrics, special washes and off-kilter details such as asymmetric stitching. Wide jeans, relaxed checked shirts and fuzzy knitwear are among its most recognizable pieces.

Is Our Legacy high quality?

The label builds its identity on cloth quality, precise cut and careful detailing. Fabrics are chosen because they age and improve with use, and wear and patina count as qualities, most clearly in its leather pieces.
