ASICS, an acronym for the Latin expression Anima Sana In Corpore Sano ("You should pray for a healthy mind in a healthy body"). The Japanese athletic footwear and apparel company has played a significant part at the very top of the sportswear food-chain since 1949. Incredible performance technology, unique design, amazing collaborative projects, and much more, have all become characteristics that separate ASICS from the rest. Most recently, they worked with the booming Bulgarian designer Kiko Kostadinov on a handfull of different ASICS reworked silhouettes, accompanied by highly untraditional campaigns - one of which featured the iconic fashion photographer Juergen Teller as the model. Other collaborators include Berlin-based, industrial and rave inspired brand GMBH and the 70's punk-era legend Vivienne Westwood. The choice to continuously produce new and interesting shoes and apparel, as a result of unexpected long-term partnerships with avant garde designers in the fashion world, pushes ASICS into the very top of the resurging, experimental high-fashion sportswear category.
