Some say the beauty and the sublime can't coexist, that one has to cancel out the other. Yet, the eponymous Danish jewellery atelier, Elhanati manages to consistently find beauty in their sublime designs. Using recycled 18k solid gold, Orit Elhanati creates minimal, yet elegantly fluid and asymmetrical shapes. At times, the gold is accompanied by gemstones, that are carefully and consciously sourced from around the world, ensuring a perfect to each individual piece of jewelery.
Born in Denmark, inheriting a combination of Danish, Israeli and Greek roots, Elhanati's designs have a distinct eclecticism that draws from her travels in Israel and upbringing in Copenhagen. The jewellery depicts interpretations of Middle Eastern aesthetics found in unlikely places; the narrow streets and ancient architecture of Jerusalem, the path to the Dead Sea, the textures of the mountains, and cliffs and desert lines. Scandinavian simplicity meets mysterious Middle Eastern energy in the immediacy of Elhanati's handcrafted wearable miniature art pieces.
